Translink Announces Changes to Burnaby Transit Service, Improvements to Key South Burnaby Route

August 25, 2020 — Today, Translink announced a series of changes to its transit service across the region to reflect changes in ridership, particularly in light of COVID-19. Several of the changes are impacting Burnaby routes, and include both service reductions and increases.

One route in particular, which the Burnaby Board of Trade is pleased to see receiving additional service is the #116 – Edmonds to Metrotown.  This route services the growing south Burnaby business community in the Big Bend and Glenlyon districts.  This area, which is still being developed and built out, is home to many of Burnaby’s largest employers and represents a significant and important parcel of industrial and commercial land, which is vital to our economic future.

Many years ago, the Burnaby Board of Trade was instrumental in implementing this bus route through a sustained collaboration with the City of Burnaby and Translink.  The BBOT thanks Translink for its continued attention to the level of service in this area.
