Business Name Approvals & Corporate Registry Services

The first step in starting a new business is applying for a business name. The Name Approval process determines whether the name you are intending to do business under is both appropriate and available. The Burnaby Board of Trade is happy to assist you with completing the application form and will submit the material on your behalf.

Stop by the Burnaby Board of Trade’s offices in person to complete a Name Approval and one of our staff will be happy to assist you. Name approvals can be submitted in a few minutes in person and take up to 5 business days to receive results.

Our prices are as follows:

  • Regular Service: $60.00
  • Priority Service: $160.00 (one business day)

Once your have completed a successful business name approval, you have 56 days in which to register with the Government of BC that you will be conducting business under that name. This process is quick and is completed within the same day.

Stop by the Burnaby Board of Trade’s offices in person to complete the below Business Registration form and one of our staff will be happy to submit the registration on your behalf, and if desired, print a copy of the approved registration for you.

The Burnaby Board of Trade is happy to provide select other services through the BC Corporate Registry. Every business in the province in registered with the BC Corporate Registry and the Burnaby Board of Trade is able to access information and generate documents such as corporate summaries, annual reports, and certificates of registration/good standing.

Our list of services and prices is as below:

  • Corporate Summary – Search/Document
    This document shows the information the government has registered about a corporation, such as its incorporation number and date, its list of directors, and its legal status (whether it is in receivership or liquidation).

    • BBOT Members – $15.00
    • Non-Members – $35.00
  • Certificate of Good Standing – Search/Document
    This document shows whether a business is up-to-date with its required filings with the BC Government. This is available for BC and Extraprovincial corporations (except for those in Alberta and Saskatchewan)

    • BBOT Members – $35.00
    • Non-Members – $60.00
  • Miscellaneous Corporate Records – Search/Document
    These include various corporate records which can be searched and provided as documents, including Annual Reports, Certificates of Incorporation, Incorporation Applications, Statement of Registration, Firm Summary, Certificates of Registration

    • BBOT Members – $15.00
    • Non-Members – $35.00
