Day 01 : Depart Vancouver
Depart this morning from Vancouver to start our journey.
Day 02 : Arrive Hong Kong/Ha Noi
Cross the International Dateline and arrive in Hong Kong. Enjoy a restorative break at the airport before continuing on to Ha Noi, Vietnam where you will be warmly received and transferred to your hotel. Overnight in Ha Noi
Day 03 : Ha Noi
Early this morning, visit Ba Dinh Square where Vietnamese independence was first declared in 1945 and witness the solemn flag raising ceremony. Return to the hotel for breakfast and the enjoy a tour of this vibrant city. Visit the Temple of Literature–Vietnam’s first university—as well as Hoan Kiem Lake which is home to the beautiful Ngoc Son Temple. Then continue with an exciting walking tour around the streets of the Old Quarter commercial district of Ha Noi. Breakfast and Dinner. Overnight in Ha Noi.
Day 04 : Ha Noi – Ha Long Bay
After breakfast depart Ha Noi for Ha Long Bay, which is recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site for its outstanding natural beauty. Here you will board our cruise ship and check into your cozy cabin for an overnight cruise. Enjoy a delicious lunch served in the ship’s dining room as you sail by magnificent limestone formations. As you enjoy the scenic cruise, dinner is served and you can sit back, relax and take in the magical atmosphere of the bay by night. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Overnight on boat in Ha Long Bay.
Day 05 : Ha Long – Ha Noi – Da Nang – Hoi An
For early risers, enjoy a Tai Chi class on the ship’s desk in the early morning sunshine. This morning you will visit some of Halong Bay’s magnificent caves, stirkingly carved from the limestone hills. Return to the cruise for brunch, while the boat gently makes its way back to the pier. Next, depart via a short flight to Da Nang where you will be transferred to your hotel in Hoi An ancient town, just minutes from the charming UNESCO World Heritage Site. Brunch. Overnight in Hoi An.
Day 06: Hoi An
This morning you will enjoy a guided walking tour around Hoi An Ancient Town. Take a traditional Hoi An basket and learn how the locals collect shellfish. Next, visit the Japanese covered bridge, a beautiful example of Japanese architecture dating to the 17th century. Continue on to a Chinese assembly hall, a typical Vietnamese merchant’s house and a local market. The town and its market is known for its numerous art galleries, souvenirs and tailor shops where you can get express made-to-order clothes if you like. And as the sun sets, delight in seeing the famous Hoi An lanterns light up the ancient streets. Breakfast. Overnight in Hoi An.
Day 07 : Hoi An – Hue
After breakfast, travel to the city of Hue the capital of the old Nguyen dynasty. Hue features splendid tombs of emperors, stunning pagodas and the citadel that houses the Purple City, situated on the banks of the Perfume River. Upon arrival at Hue, we are transferred to our hotel. Later in the afternoon, explore the town on cycles before ending at a family-run restaurant located in a quiet lane of the Royal Citadel. The restaurant owner Madam Ha, who is recognized by many as one of the best chefs in Hue, will greet us and introduce how traditional imperial cuisine is prepared before welcoming us to enjoy a special traditional banquet. Breakfast and Dinner. Overnight in Hue.
Day 08 : Hue
This morning you will board a traditional dragon boat and head up the Perfume River to visit Thien Mu Pagoda, which is also home to many young people who are contemplating in joining monkhood. We continue to the Imperial Citadel of Hue – a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage—for a guided tour of the many highlights. Afterwards, proceed to a local pagoda where you will be treated to a traditional vegetarian meal before returning back to the hotel. Remainder of the day is free to explore Hue at your leisure. Breakfast and Lunch. Overnight in Hue.
Day 09 : Hue – Sai Gon/Ho Chi Minh City
After breakfast, you are transferred to the airport for a short flight to Sai Gon (officaly named Ho Chi Minh City). Today’s tour includes the Reunification Palace, former residence of the President of the Republic of Southern Vietnam until the fall of Sai Gon in 1975. Pass by the famous Notre Dame Cathedral and Central Post Office before concluding the day at the bustling and exciting Ben Thanh Market. Breakfast. Overnight in Sai Gon.
Day 10 : Mekong Delta
This morning depart on a drive to Ben Tre province where upon arrival, board a motorized boat on Ben Tre river for a tour by water. Stops include a traditional brick workshop, a coconut processing plants, and a local water-side village. Then, take a motorized cart—called a ‘tuk tuk’—past rice fields and local farms before stopping for lunch. Following lunch, sit back and float along the calm waters of the Mekong Delta as your boat bobs by giant palms and villages. Then return to Sai Gon and enjoy a farewell dinner at a local restaurant. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Overnight in Sai Gon.
Day 11: Depart Sai Gon
Bid Vietnam goodbye and transfer to the airport for the journey home to Vancouver. Breakfast. Flight home.
