New North Burnaby Neighbourhood Hosts Local Bash

SOLO district invites the community to mingle, win prizes, try samples and more!

BURNABY, B.C. (June 20, 2016) – As SOLO District takes shape South of Lougheed, Appia Development – the developer behind Burnaby’s most livable urban community – is kicking off the summer with its first annual block party. The event will take place on the terrace adjacent to Whole Foods and on Skyline Drive, the pedestrian friendly high street at SOLO District, located at the southwest corner of Lougheed and Willingdon, on Saturday, June 25 from 11am-3pm.

This family-friendly party will feature free entertainment, prizes, giveaways, food samples and much more, as well as free underground parking for the duration of the event.

“SOLO has a vibrant business community that includes restaurants, cafes, stores, and essential services,” said Lisa Murrell, Appia’s Sales and Marketing Manager. “We’re excited to show North Burnaby what this new neighbourhood has to offer.”

More than a dozen members of the SOLO business community will host the event with Appia Development – including BCAA, BC Liquor Stores, G&F Financial Group, Giro di Burnaby, Whole Foods, Modo, pho d’lite, Ricky’s Café, Shoppers Drug Mart, SOLO Dental, Uncle Fatih’s Pizza, and Stripped Wax Bar.

Visitors can get their faces painted, play games, snap photos in the SOLO Dental photo booth, and enjoy samples from Uncle Fatih’s Pizza, Pho D’Lite and Whole Foods. In-store beverage samples will also be available at the BC Liquor Store (for those guests 19 and over).

Starbucks will give away 200 reusable mugs and attendees will have a chance to win a tablet from G&F Financial, gift cards from Koko Nail & Lash Bar, make-up consultations and samples from Shoppers Drug Mart.

“As our community grows, we hope to make the SOLO District Block party an annual must-do summer event,” Murrell said.
