Burnaby Board of Trade Calls on Federal, Provincial Governments to Deescalate and End Ongoing Blockades of Key Infrastructure

The Burnaby Board of Trade has contacted all of Burnaby’s federal Members of Parliament and provincial Members of the Legislative Assembly to express our concern about the negative economic impacts of the ongoing blockades and disruptions to public services, major transportation corridors, trade-enabling infrastructure, and key rail services. The Burnaby Board of Trade has called on our government representatives to work together to deescalate the situation and to bring an end to the ongoing protests.

The right to protest is a valuable cornerstone of our democracy, but the blockades over the past several days have had significant negative effects on our national, provincial and local economies by preventing both the movement of people, goods and services within our region, and the transport of products across Canada and onto international markets.
