Burnaby Board of Trade Announces New Vision

Today, at the Burnaby Board of Trade’s 109th Annual General Meeting, President & CEO Paul Holden presented and announced a new vision for the organization as the catalyst, convener, and champion for Burnaby businesses and the Burnaby community at large.

Paul Holden announced that over the course of the next few months, members and the public will see a change in how the Burnaby Board of Trade (BBOT) talks about the important work we do, and how the words “catalyst, convener and champion” will describe and guide what the BBOT does and why we do it.

“The words ‘chamber of commerce’ or ‘board of trade’ can sometimes evoke an image of an old, leather-bound and wood-paneled business organization that spends its time on parties, pageants and parades,” said Paul Holden. “The truth is, this image couldn’t be further from the truth. The Burnaby Board of Trade today is  a relevant, future-focused organization that advocates at all levels for the interests of our diverse business community,”

“At the Burnaby Board of Trade, we understand that you cannot separate the health of business from the health of the community in which it operates. It is from this understanding that we draw our commitment to the triple bottom line of economic, social and environmental sustainability, and fulfill our vital role as the catalyst, convener and champion of a thriving business community—and a community as a whole,” added Holden in the AGM’s annual Chief Executive Officer’s Report.

We encourage our members, partners, stakeholders and prospective members to read more about us and our renewed mandate, and to learn about our new vision at one of our upcoming Membership Info Sessions or by contacting the Burnaby Board of Trade at 604-412-0100 or admin@bbot.ca
