BBOT Meets with BC Agriculture Minister

The Burnaby Board of Trade and several members sat down with Minister Norm Letnick, provincial Minister of Agriculture last week to discuss his ministry’s efforts to bolster local food production and to build on the recent successes of the agriculture/agri-food sector.

The Minister discussed initiatives of the government to support the agriculture industry in the hopes of meeting the government’s goal of building B.C. agriculture revenue from over $12 billion currently to $15 billion a year by 2020.

BBOT members in attendance spoke to the importance of supporting both local agriculture producers and local food/beverage manufactures and discussed ways to encourage more Burnaby residents and businesses to “Buy BC” and support locally-made products.
