BBOT Bids Farewell to Two Past Chairs, Director at 110th Annual General Meeting

August 20, 2020 —  Yesterday at our 110th Annual General Meeting we bid farewell to three of our current Board Directors, including Jack Kuyer, Catherine Boivie and Vivian Yuen.

Vivian Yuen, representing Electronic Arts Canada, served 6 years on the Board of Directors and chaired our Pacific Gateway Committee which provided a platform for the BBOT to connect with and promote our Asia-Pacific business community.

Also departing our Board were two past Chairs of our organization, the highest volunteer position in our chamber,  Jack Kuyer (left) and Catherine Boivie (middle-left)  pictured here with outgoing Chair Andrew Scott (middle-right) and BBOT President & CEO Paul Holden (right).

Jack Kuyer of The Valley Bakery, the iconic Burnaby Heights bakery, has spent over 17 years on our Board of Directors, one of our longest-serving volunteers ever.  It is not hyperbole to say that the BBOT would not be the organization it is today without Jack, who was instrumental in building our chamber. A passionate advocate for small businesses and an award winning baker and business owner, Jack has been a tremendous asset to our organization and will be greatly missed around our boardroom table.

Catherine Boivie of Strategic Leadership Technology Corp. joined the Board of Directors in 2010 and in her decade of service provided thoughtful insight into trends in technology and board governance, two areas of her particular expertise.  Named one of Canada’s “Most Powerful Women”, Catherine brought to the BBOT a wealth of knowledge from a number of senior executive roles in large, membership-based organizations and her extensive experience on large corporate and non-profit boards, and we will miss her contributions to our organization.

On behalf of the Burnaby Board of Trade, our members and staff, we thank Jack, Catherine and Vivian for their 30+ years of combined service to our business community and our Burnaby Board of Trade network!
