Ever wondered what it’s like being an urban beekeeper? Winston Wong from BC Bee Supply explains the basics of beekeeping and what you can do to protect B.C.’s bee population.
BC Bee Supply, based in Burnaby, supplies beekeeping equipment for hobbyists and commercial pollinators across Metro Vancouver and British Columbia.
The business was started six years ago by ‘Head Drone,’ Winston Wong. Wong, who started as a beekeeping hobbyist, is now a province-wide business owner and recipient of the Burnaby Heights Green Business Leader Award.
He had some surprising advice for the non-beekeeper on how to make their gardens and patios bee-friendly. Wong recommends you “do less than you’re doing now and just let the weeds grow.”
