Release of Industry Food Donation Guidelines

BC Centre for Disease Control—with MetroVancouver, the Greater Vancouver Food Bank, and Food Banks BC—is pleased to announce the re-release of the Industry Food Donation Guidelines. These were originally posted on the BCCDC website in July 2015. They have now been released in a more user-friendly, designed format.

The new version of the guidelines is available in full or in 3 parts:

  1. Executive Summary and Rationale
  2. Starting and Managing a Food Donation Program – in 3 Steps
  3. Industry-Specific Information (for Processors, Caterers/Restaurants, and Retailers)

The guidelines, along with supporting materials (food scraps recycling options, templates and forms, and Guidelines for Food Distribution Organizations) are posted on the BCCDC website at http://www.bccdc.ca/health-info/food-your-health/healthy-food-access-food-security (click on the “Donation guidelines” tab).
