Burnaby Board of Trade Named National Finalist in
Canadian Chamber of Commerce Competition

Burnaby, BC – The Burnaby of Trade (BBOT) is proud to announce that it has been named a national finalist in a Canadian Chamber of Commerce competition recognizing innovative programs and services delivered by Boards of Trade and Chambers of Commerce

Remaining relevant in a quickly changing and competitive business environment is one of today’s biggest challenges for member associations. With competing services and benefits, the proliferation of sector specific associations and events, and an increasingly segmented and diverse business community, new strategies must be used to attract, engage and retain members.

The BBOT’s submission entitled “Forward Thinking Chambers Offer Choice” outlined how a triple bottom line chamber responds to a quickly changing and diverse business community’s needs through responsive programming. Increased engagement through programs such as the award-winning Pledge for a Sustainable Community, Asia Pacific Gateway – High Tea Dim Sum, the recently launched Women’s Business Success Network, the Access Student Career Development Program, and the soon to be launched Burnaby Young Professional Program illustrates that the BBOT is meeting the challenges of a segmented business landscape. BBOT President and CEO Paul Holden says “We are delighted to be named finalists in this important competition. Increasingly businesses are recognizing the value of these initiatives. In the first half of this year we have brought in more than double the amount of new members compared to this time last year and we believe member retention and attraction will continue to thrive by delivering innovative, diverse programming to our business community.”

Paul Holden will be presenting” Forward Thinking Chambers Offer Choice” at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce AGM in Regina on September 17th, 2016. The other award finalists are the Greater Peterborough Chamber of Commerce and The Calgary Chamber of Commerce
