Pacific Blue Cross Announced as 2022 Burnaby Business Hall of Fame Inductee

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Pacific Blue Cross Announced as 2022 Burnaby Business Hall of Fame Inductee

Burnaby, BC – The Burnaby Board of Trade (BBOT) is pleased to announce that the member-based not-for-profit health benefits society, Pacific Blue Cross will be this year’s inductee into the prestigious Burnaby Business Hall of Fame.

The Hall of Fame induction is a special honour bestowed jointly by the BBOT and the City of Burnaby each year to a widely-recognized, Burnaby-based business that has demonstrated outstanding business success over many years and has had a positive and significant impact on the community.

“I am so pleased to be able to welcome Pacific Blue Cross into the Burnaby Business Hall of Fame,” says Paul Holden, president and CEO of the Burnaby Board of Trade. “Pacific Blue Cross has been proudly serving British Columbians for over 80 years. Their commitment to the improvement of the health and well-being of all British Columbians is something to be celebrated, and we are proud that they call Burnaby home.”

Pacific Blue Cross, in partnership with CUPE 1816, the union representing roughly three-quarters of their 750-person workforce, provides health, dental, life, disability, travel, and other health insurance products to over 1.65 million members that are enrolled in group and individual plans. This makes Pacific Blue Cross the largest health benefits and health insurance provider in the province. Last year alone, they processed over 28 million claims with a total value of $1.5 billion from their head office in Burnaby, BC.

“Pacific Blue Cross and CUPE 1816 are proud to improve the health and wellbeing of 1 in 3 British Columbians from right here in Burnaby,” said John Crawford, President and CEO of Pacific Blue Cross. “On behalf of our entire team, I would like to thank the City of Burnaby and the Burnaby Board of Trade for placing Pacific Blue Cross in the Burnaby Business Hall of Fame.”

Pacific Blue Cross is gratified to support other non-profits in fulfilling their mandates through its corporate pillar partnerships, community sponsorships, and donations from its Health Foundation. The Pacific Blue Cross Health Foundation, which recently celebrated its 10-year anniversary, has provided over $4 million to more than 175 organizations across the province that are helping improve the health and well-being of British Columbians.

Pacific Blue Cross is incredibly proud of its longstanding working relationship with the Burnaby Board of Trade and its commitment to the city of Burnaby—a wonderful place to live, work, and play.

Pacific Blue Cross will be formally inducted at the sold-out 23rd Annual Burnaby Business Excellent Awards Gala on November 17th at the Hilton Vancouver Metrotown Hotel.
