Celebrating the Best of Burnaby at the 24th annual Burnaby Business Excellence Awards
On November 16, nearly 400 business, government and community leaders came together to celebrate the best of the Burnaby business community at the 24th annual Burnaby Business Excellence Awards.
Now in its 24th year, the Burnaby Business Excellence Awards is a joint initiative of the City of Burnaby and the Burnaby Board of Trade. It is designed to uncover, promote and celebrate success stories and innovations in the Burnaby business community. Five awards are presented recognizing excellence in corporate social responsibility, environmental sustainability, workplace culture, innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as four overall awards celebrating the top non-profit, businessperson, small business and large business of the year.
This year’s event celebrated an impressive contingent of finalists and winners; these businesses, entrepreneurs and not-for-profit organizations are exceptional representatives of the vibrant, inclusive and thriving Burnaby business community. The Burnaby Board of Trade is continuously awed and inspired by the stories of businesses embracing change, challenging assumptions, and finding new and innovative ways of doing business. The awards allow for the opportunity to celebrate some of these stories.
“Hosting the Burnaby Business Excellence Awards in partnership with the City of Burnaby is an honour. Burnaby is an extraordinary, diverse and innovative business, and we are so proud to represent and celebrate these businesses and entrepreneurs,” said Paul Holden, BBOT President & CEO. “Congratulations to all of the remarkable finalists in each of our award categories – each of you has made contributions and efforts this year that are worth celebrating.”
The evening also celebrated this year’s Burnaby Business Hall of Fame inductee, Houle Electric. The Hall of Fame induction is a special honour bestowed jointly by the BBOT and the City of Burnaby each year to a widely-recognized, Burnaby-based business that has demonstrated outstanding business success over many years and has had a positive and significant impact on the community. This award was sponsored by Pacific Link College.
Thank you to the sponsors, volunteers and staff who have made this evening’s celebration of excellence possible.
