BBOT supports Provincial Government’s investments in BC’s creative industries

PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT’S INVESTMENTS IN BC’S CREATIVE INDUSTRIES

The Burnaby Board of Trade applauds the BC government’s recent announcement to invest $42 million in support of people and businesses working in our province’s motion picture, music, publishing, and interactive digital media industries.

The City of Burnaby is a leading creative hub in British Columbia. In the film industry alone, Burnaby is home to approximately 60% of the studio spaces available across the Lower Mainland with the largest campus studio lot in Canada set to be complete in 2025. Along with other major employers in the creative industries based in Burnaby, such as Electronic Arts, this investment by the provincial government will strengthen the entire creative sector to help weather global shifts and make the creative industries more competitive and sustainable both domestically and globally.

The Burnaby Board of Trade looks forward to working with the BC government in support of all creative industries in Burnaby and around the province given the important role this sector plays in building communities, providing family-supporting jobs, inspiring future generations, and creating economic spin-offs that support local businesses and their employees.
