BBOT Members Partner to Build New Public Green Space, Seeking Donations to Make Project a Reality

BBOT members Steamworks Brewery and Para Space Landscaping are leading an initiative to turn an ignored and underutilized area in North Burnaby into a new public greenspace for the benefit and enjoyment of residents, businesses and visitors to the area.

Working with the Green Cities Foundation, these two members are collecting donations to help make their vision a reality, and transform this empty lot into a vibrant new public space.

The proposed improvements to this inclusive and accessible space include:

  • Addition of picnic benches, park benches and/or alternative outdoor seating, and a trash/recycling receptacle
  • Installation of a wooden pergola, for shade and to support climbing hop vines.
  • Installation of a pollinator garden in raised hexagonal wooden planter beds and a ‘bee hotel’ to support the maintenance of a healthy neighbourhood pollinator insect population

This project is a great example of community-pride, and the Burnaby Board of Trade encourages you to help make it a reality by donating to the Green Cities Foundation by clicking here.   Just select “Burnaby Green Space”  from the drop-down menu when making your donation to support this local project!
