Translink Releases Report from Mobility Pricing Independent Commission on Possible Road Pricing System

Today, the Mobility Pricing Independent Commission released its final report on road pricing and the possible implementation of such a system in Metro Vancouver.  The Translink report suggests road pricing as a solution to addressing congestion and recommends further consideration of this issue.  The Commission’s report can be found here.

Yesterday, the Burnaby Board of Trade (BBOT) shared the results of its own look at road pricing with a report from a task force of business members who considered the issue.  That report identified 7 fundamental principles which should underpin any suggested road pricing system, including a focus on reducing congestion and making the system revenue neutral and not a net, new revenue stream.  Read the BBOT’s report and 7 principles here.

BBOT President & CEO appeared live on CKNW’s The Lynda Steele Show to discuss the issue of road pricing and our perspective on the issue.  Click here to listen to the interview.
