Say Hello Burnaby (Say goodbye to 2020)

The “Say Hello” gala presented by the Burnaby Primary Care Network, provides an opportunity for businesses and other organizations and members of the community to come together to celebrate the start of a new year a message of hope and a challenge for our community to take up.

When:   Thursday, January 28, 2021
7:00 p.m via zoom (or other online option)

Say Hello – a simple message that can be spread through signage in businesses, public buildings, social media and schools is intended to encourage that connection, and also act as a catalyst for critical conversations – around isolation and its impacts and around the causes that exist today and have existed long before the pandemic came along.

The event will focus on launching the campaign and also act as a fundraiser to help folks in Burnaby to overcome isolation. In this new world, the primary way that all of us connect is through technology. But many of our most isolated – seniors, the homeless and newcomers and immigrant families – don’t have the tech they need. Everything raised from ticket sales and fundraising at the event will go toward getting the right tech into the hands of people who need it most – seniors who are home and alone, immigrant families who may have one computer for work, school and social connection for a family of eight, homeless who can’t access supports any other way. Anything beyond our $10,000 target will be donated to the Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser for the Society to End Homelessness.

The Gala will be a mix of ‘big room’ entertainment’ and many, many opportunities to meet and have fun in smaller rooms.
