The Overwaitea Story
Sheliza Mitha, local writer and editor, has recently completed writing a corporate history book to celebrate the 100-year anniversary of Overwaitea Foods.
Divided into 10 chapters, The Overwaitea Story recounts the century-old story of this iconic, home-grown BC company through little-known facts, anecdotes, personal stories and profiles on each of the company’s presidents, dating back to the original founder, R.C. Kidd, and his wife Anne. Along the way, the story offers historical timelines, sidebar stories and details of the company’s various milestones, including Jim Pattison’s acquisition of Overwaitea in 1968.
