Nominations for the 16th annual Burnaby Business Excellence Awards are NOW OPEN!

Public nominations will be accepted until June 30th, 2015.

Individuals wishing to nominate a business, individual, or organization can do so in one of three ways:

The Awards Categories:

Burnaby Business Excellence Awards will be given to a deserving business in each of the following categories:

Burnaby Community Spirit – For a business having demonstrated outstanding commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility and for the strong support of local service agencies and Not-For-Profit organizations.

Business Innovation – For ingenuity and innovation in product design, marketing, science, technology, productivity, commercialization, business planning, employee training and other business activities.

Entrepreneurial Spirit – For having demonstrated a highly entrepreneurial approach to launching a new business or a new initiative within an existing business with significant results in key business metrics.

Environmental Sustainability – For a business that has made protecting, sustaining and enhancing natural resources an integral part of their business plan by adopting strategies and activities that reduce energy and materials consumption and/or eliminates waste and pollution.

Family-Friendly Organization of the Year – For a business that has recognized the importance of supporting employees as they balance the demands and responsibilities of both work and home roles, and has created a flexible and supportive workplace and culture with “family-friendly” policies and practices.

Not-For-Profit Organization of the Year – For a Not-For-Profit organization that has made an outstanding contribution to the Burnaby community and its citizens, and in doing so has made Burnaby a better place to live, work and play.

Businessperson of the Year – For a local businessperson who, through their personal vision, expertise, dedication and performance, is an outstanding role model for business development and excellence.

Business of the Year (up to 50 employees) – For a Burnaby business employing up to 50 people which has made an outstanding contribution in the combined areas of business success, innovation and community service.

Business of the Year – For a business that has made an outstanding contribution in the combined areas of business success, innovation and community service.

Eligibility

Key Eligibility Rules:

-Nominees must have a business location in Burnaby and a valid Burnaby business license
-Self Nominations ARE accepted
-Nominees do NOT need to be Board of Trade members
-An organization/individual is ineligible to win the same award category more than once in three years

The Awards Process

A call for public nominations is made each Spring, followed by an adjudication and shortlisting process. From all of the nominations received, up to 5 will be shortlisted as finalists in each category and announced at the Hall of Fame Induction and Finalists Announcement Luncheon in October. After a judging process, the winners in each category will be announced live at the annual BBEA gala in November.

The Burnaby Business Hall of Fame award is a component of the Burnaby Business Excellence Awards program and is presented as part of the BBEA events. This award is designed as as special honour for a Burnaby-based business which has a long history of business success and community involvement.
