Run Up for Down Syndrome

Run Up for Downs

June 3, 2018 | Swangard Stadium, Burnaby

About the Event:
The 22nd Annual Run Up for Down Syndrome is a landmark occasion as we celebrate the extraordinary growth of the event with a move to a brand new venue: Swangard Stadium.
Everything about Run Up 2018 will be bigger and better than ever: more fun in our expanded Kidz Zone, more food, more runners and, most importantly, more funds raised for individuals with Down syndrome!
Participants of all ages and abilities will run or walk the picturesque 5 km or 1.5 km routes through Burnaby’s Central Park. Back inside the stadium, you’ll enjoy a variety of fun family activities including face painting, bouncy castles and slides, dunk tank, games, mascots, scrumptious food, and so much more. Participants will also have a chance to win incredible prizes for both running and fundraising achievements.
In the weeks leading up to the event, participants collect donations from friends and family, using a customized personal fundraising webpage. Last year, a record $114,000 was raised.

Corporate Challenge:
Do you work for a Lower Mainland business of any kind? If so, round up your co-workers and take the Corporate Challenge! Businesses of all shapes and sizes are invited to enter a team and compete to make the biggest impact for individuals with Down syndrome.
Teams must have a minimum of 10 members. If you have less than 10 employees, fear not – you can feel free to top up your team with clients, suppliers or family members.
Corporate teams will compete in two challenges, with a trophy and prize awarded to the team that wins each contest. Both contests are based on ratios, to allow organizations of varying size to compete on a level playing field.

Spirit: The Spirit Award goes to the corporate team that has the highest participation among its employees. Your spirit score is calculated by dividing the total number of team members at the event by the total number of employees at the organization. Team members include runners of all distances, walkers and volunteers. Prize: TBA

Fundraising: The Fundraising Award goes to the team that raises the most money per team member. Your fundraising score is calculated by dividing the total funds raised by the team as a whole by the number of team members, to determine which team raised the most per participant. Prize: TBA
