Provincial Government Announces Rebates from ICBC to Mitigate Rising Fuel Prices

March 25 – Today, the provincial government announced that ICBC, the public auto insurer, will be issuing rebates to drivers to help mitigate the recent rise in fuel prices caused in large part by the ongoing invasion of Ukraine by Russian forces.

Most ICBC customers with a basic auto insurance policy during the month of February will be eligible for the $110 relief rebate. Most commercial customers will receive a rebate of $165 in recognition of higher fuel use by commercial customers.

Eligible ICBC customers can expect to receive their rebate in May if they are registered for direct deposit with ICBC or as a refund to their credit card. All other customers will receive cheques in June.

The Burnaby Board of Trade will continue to advocate for actions to address the increasing cost of doing business in our region, but applauds the government for taking action in this way to offset some of the increase in fuel prices.
