Paraspace Landscaping gives back to Burnaby Hospital
[Burnaby Newsleader – June 17, 2015]
Sunday morning finds most employees lounging, doing errands, and preparing for the week of work ahead, but for the employees of Burnaby’s Paraspace Landscaping Sunday, May 31, was spent donating their time to refurbish the rooftop patio garden at Burnaby Hospital.
Two dozen employees volunteered their time and muscle power, along with trucks loaded with donated trees, plants, shrubs, potting soil, tools and beautiful new containers.
They brought along their families and neighbours — half a dozen young children working alongside their moms and dads.
“Within four hours they had totally transformed the space into a beautiful outdoor garden for summer, complete with plants, planters and a brand new drip watering system to keep the plants healthy and happy,” said manager of volunteer resources, Clare O’Kelly.
In addition to Paraspace’s manpower, plants and expertise, Atlas Pots (North Vancouver) and Edgewater Plants (Aldergrove) made substantial donations.
The project was valued at $17,000 in donated goods and labour.
“We like to give back to the community,” added owner Jeff Foley.
