BC’s minimum wage is currently set at $10.85 per hour for general employees following an increase on September 15th ($9.60 per hour for liquor server employees.)

The current plan is for the minimum wage to increase to $11.25 in 2017 and from then on remain pegged to the consumer price index, a statistical estimate of inflation. Recently, there has also been discussion by some to increase the minimum wage to $15.00 per hour in the coming years.

The Burnaby Board of Trade and our Government Relations Committee is currently reviewing the issue of the minimum wage and what the above increases would mean for our members and the business community in general.
