Burnaby municipal election results: BCA regains council majority

The Burnaby Citizens Association (BCA) is celebrating after regaining a stronghold on city council.

With all four incumbent councillors re-elected, and two BCA newcomers celebrating a council victory, the NDP-affiliated party now represents six of eight council seats. The BCA’s Alison Gu, had the largest number of votes of any candidate.

Green Party incumbent Joe Keithley won a second term with a strong showing and Richard Lee, a former B.C. Liberal MLA, won a seat with One Burnaby, a new centrist party.

Mayor Mike Hurley won by acclamation and will serve a second term.
