Burnaby Board of Trade Meets with Provincial Government on Immigration, Tax, and Sustainability

During three meetings with provincial government staff in late-October and early-November, the Burnaby Board of Trade advanced issues important to our members and advocated for changes to better support small businesses and help all businesses stay competitive.

In the meetings, BBOT President & CEO Paul Holden and Director-Policy & Stakeholder Relations Cory Redekop advocated for changes to the property tax system to address soaring tax bills facing businesses, pushed the government to increase exemptions for the Employer Health Tax, advanced proposals to change the BC immigration system to allow more flexibility, and asked for more government supports for small businesses interested to increase their sustainability.

Each of these policy areas were developed in consultation with BBOT members and through various BBOT working groups and committees in previous years, and the BBOT continues to push for these and other changes aimed at ‘making business better’ for our members.
