BBOT Wins Extension for BC PNP Tech Pilot

The Burnaby Board of Trade (BBOT) is applauding yesterday’s announcement that the BC Provincial Nominee Program’s Tech Pilot is being extended until June 2020.

The BC PNP Tech Pilot helps employers to address their talent needs by providing a fast-tracked, permanent immigration pathway for in-demand foreign workers and international students, and was set to expire at the end of this month.

The BBOT has been advocating to the Ministry of Jobs, Trade and Technology for months to save this program, making the case that it is a successful, efficient, and much needed program to support the growth of our technology, digital and film sectors.

This comes on the heels of the announcement earlier in the year that the federal government’s Global Talent Stream program for bringing in highly skilled international talent will also be saved and turned into a permanent program, another BBOT policy recommendation.

The BBOT will continue to engage with the provincial government to keep the Tech Pilot, and to eventually make it a permanent feature of the Provincial Nominee Program, but is pleased to have played a leadership role in fighting for these programs which will provide tangible benefits to businesses across Burnaby and our region.  Click here or read below the BBOT’s recent letter to Minister Bruce Ralston on the BC PNP Tech Pilot:
