BBOT Supporting Newcomer Entrepreneurship

The Burnaby Board of Trade (BBOT) works every day to support and develop our local economy.

Last week, as part of our membership on the Burnaby Intercultural Planning Table, the BBOT helped present the “Exploring Entrepreneurship for Newcomers” conference held in Burnaby.  This conference provided inspiration, resources, and supports for immigrants and newcomers interested in starting their own businesses.  Over 100 attendees registered for the full day conference which featured panel discussions, presentations, and networking opportunities.

In addition to presenting the conference, the BBOT was also happy to be one of the day’s speakers, providing information from the BBOT’s Business Resource Guidebook on researching, registering and starting a new business.

The BBOT is a long-time member of the Burnaby Intercultural Planning Table which seeks to make Burnaby a welcoming and inclusive community where newcomers are supported to build productive lives here in Canada.  The Table is just one way the BBOT is ‘making business better’ and having impact on our local community.
