BBOT Receives Significant Grant Funding to Support Shop Local Initiatives

The Burnaby Board of Trade is pleased to announce it has received significant grant funding to develop and launch a new initiative designed to promote and encourage shopping local from Burnaby businesses and suppliers.

The funding, provided by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada and the BC Chamber of Commerce, will support the development of new campaign which will include social media, digital and print advertising, and video production highlighting the many great businesses and shopping districts in Burnaby.

In addition, the campaign will feature the expansion of a Buy Local Business Directory, a searchable directory of local businesses that consumers and businesses can use to find whatever they are looking for. “Burnaby has such a diverse business community that you can really find whatever you need here in the city,” says Paul Holden, BBOT President & CEO.  “The goal of this campaign is to remind people to look local for whatever they need, and to give them to tools to help them find those local suppliers or vendors quickly and easily.”   The directory will automatically feature the 1,100 businesses that are members of the Burnaby Board of Trade, but all Burnaby businesses are invited to be included during this campaign.

Burnaby businesses interested in being a part of the Buy Local Business Directory can be included for free by submitting their business info through an online survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BuyLocalBurnaby or can contact BuyLocal@BBOT.ca for more information.
