BBOT Members Try Out Tech at the Microsoft Store

The Burnaby Board of Trade and several members attended a private tour of BBOT member the Microsoft Store at Metropolis at Metrotown mall to demo some of the innovative products and technologies on offer.

Starting with a demonstration of the store’s 84” Surface Hub, a wall-sized interactive whiteboard, attendees were able to see the various ways people can collaborate on this impressive technology.

Next, a few members got to try their hands at virtual reality with both the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive, which shows how far VR technology has developed in the past few years. Following these demos, several attendees discussed the potential implications VR may have in the future, including possible use for training in a variety of sectors from medicine/health care to mechanics and trades.

Lastly, the group got its hands on a variety of Microsoft’s Surface products, including the Surface Studio, of particular interest to some in the crowd for its applications for photography, graphic design, and digital media companies.

The BBOT thanks the Microsoft Store for opening its doors to its fellow BBOT members and letting us get our hands on some of their cool gadgets and products.
