BBOT Member L’Arche Greater Vancouver Launches Redevelopment and Housing Project Following Government Support

February 9, 2022 – Today, BBOT member L’Arche Greater Vancouver, which offers homes and Community Inclusion Programs for people with developmental disabilities, announced it has received funding to move ahead with the proposed development of its site after receiving funding from the province, federal government and City of Burnaby.

The project will replace three outdated group-home buildings with 39 new rental units for families and seniors, and 22 group-home units for adults living with developmental disabilities. Once construction is complete, group-home residents who relocated during construction will have the option of moving into the new development with no change to their rent.

The provincial government announced today it will provide $6.7 million from the Building BC: Community Housing Fund for the project and will provide annual operating funding of approximately $300,000. The project is also receiving $854,000 from the Government of Canada and the Province by way of the Canada-British Columbia Bilateral Agreement on Housing. The City of Burnaby is providing a $1.5 million grant.

The Burnaby Board of Trade congratulates L’Arche Greater Vancouver on moving their development forward!  L’Arche is a long-time BBOT member, and a past Not-For-Profit Organization of the Year recipient at the Burnaby Business Excellence Awards. Learn more about L’Arche online.
