BBOT Joins Fellow Chambers in Calling for More Rapid Testing for Business

In a letter to Health Minister Adrian Dix and Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry, the Burnaby Board of Trade joined 12 other chambers of commerce from across BC to call for businesses to have more access to rapid tests, and to leverage the chamber network to help distribute the millions of tests that are coming to BC.

“Most provinces have provided rapid tests through the chamber network free of charge. B.C. businesses and chambers have not been afforded the same opportunity. Our chamber network in B.C. has been ready, willing, and able to replicate such a program in our province and has asked that the government work with us to enact it,” says the letter, which references successful models in other parts of Canada which utilize chambers of commerce to get free tests to local businesses.

“We believe it is time to enact a rapid screening program for through the Chambers to businesses across the province. B.C.’s chamber network already has the important tools, resources and staff ready to take the lead in connecting businesses to this important tool,” adds the letter, pledging to provide the needed supports to make a rapid-test roll-out successful.
