BBOT Calls on Province, Federal Government to Extend Skilled Immigration and International Talent Programs

The Burnaby Board of Trade is calling on the provincial and federal governments to keep two current programs aimed at helping businesses bring international talent to Canada and extend them beyond their June 2019 expiration dates.

Provincially, the BC Provincial Nominee Program Tech Pilot provides dedicated and expedited service for the technology and creative sectors to fill their labour needs with skilled immigration in 29 specific occupations.  And federally, the Global Talent Stream program allows companies in the innovation economy to bring highly-skilled, specialized talent to Canada that will support their growth and which is not always available locally.

The Burnaby Board of Trade has issued two policy positions on Making the BC PNP Tech Pilot Permanent and on Improving and Extending the Global Talent Stream and is engaging with the Ministers responsible from both levels of government to save these vital programs.
